Ministries

In keeping with our mission to commit ourselves completely to the service of all people with a preference for the poor, and to build together a new civilization of love, justice, peace and life, the Apostles of Jesus are devoted to the following projects:

AIDS Ministry - The Apostles of Jesus AIDS Ministry (AJAM) is an initiative of the Apostles of Jesus Missionaries to mobilize and bring together the clergy, religious and a team of lay experts from all religious denominations to provide a pastorally oriented community-based response to the ever expanding HIV/AIDS crisis in the Ngong Hills area in Kenya, the area most hit and devastated. Prompted and motivated by our faith we collaborate with the local communities within the Ngong Hills area forming this AIDS Service Organization (ASO), to address the spiritual challenges of the pandemic to people of all creeds and walks of life within the area without excluding others.

The AJAM mission is the direct services to the community, which includes prevention and awareness creation; counseling, community capacity building, compassionate care, advocacy and support as well as medical, and through sharing researched information with others.

Queen of the Apostles Medical Center - Operated by the Apostles of Jesus, the new Queen of the Apostles Medical Center provides services to the very needy in Nakasete District of Uganda. The need for solar power, medical supplies and volunteer services is great, as hundreds receive medical care 24/7.

Nsambya Hostel - Located in Kampala, Uganda, Nsambya Hostel provides accommodations to members and visitors. Our plan is to build regional headquarters for administrative purposes within this setting.

Rejaf Seminary - What was once a beautiful seminary in Sudan, was overcome by civil war and destroyed. Now, it stands in peace but crippled. Father Thomas with the help of others, has removed land mines and debris, reclaimed the property and has begun resurrecting the seminary. One building has been restored, but so much needs to be done. Rejaf Seminary will someday educate and form some of the world's finest priests; time is of the essence.

St. James School  - is one of our newer undertakings. The school will be built in memory of, in in kindness by, a teacher in the United States. The grounds are located in Tanzania and planning is underway.

Uru Seminary - Located near the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, is home to approximately 231 students. This is a minor seminary ranked one of the finest schools in the country. Its current needs are computers and a new roof for the church.

Tengeru Farm - Tengeru Farm is a coffee plantation in Arusha, Tanzania. Our aim is to use this farm, also as a hostel and retreat center, to raise funds for our institutions. However, there is still much to be done to modernize Tengeru Farm's activities.

Apostles of Jesus Lima Farm - The Lima farm is located in Kampala, Uganda, and is named after the very first member of the order, now deceased. It's various activities such as beekeeping, cattle, and crops help feed orphaned children and two schools. A farm tractor and implements are desperately needed.

Fr. Anacletus Mugabe, AJ, manages the farm activities which he hopes to expand when funds become available.

Kiserian Minor Seminary - A new project in bionatural gas will soon be underway at Kiserian Seminary, located in Kenya. Young men studying for national exams look forward to world contributions in math, science and ministry. Needs at Kiserian are that of building and grounds maintenance, as the school has been in existence since 1976.

Apostles of Jesus Youth Technical Institute - Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the institute trains students of various backgrounds in computer, carpentry, mechanics, and other trades, so that they may eventually seek employment elsewhere or become self-employed.

Star High School opened in January 2007 and is already in need of expansion as so many children dream of an education, aspiring to, as one student said, "become good citizens of God's kingdom." While the school currently houses 147 students, an ever-increasing number of students are waiting. Expansion of dormitories and building of a kitchen and dining hall are needed.
The property itself awaits funding for development of Star Farm, its church, library and store that will not only provide great learning opportunities for the students, but also provide economic growth for the surrounding community.

Shrine of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary - in Nairobi is an honored temple where hundreds come to worship. Here, you may find catechism classes, prayer retreat and spiritual pilgrimage. We are extremely grateful for the financial support that made the shrine a reality, however it remains in need of funding for restroom facilities.

Langata Seminary - is home to nearly all of our Seminarians at some point during their formation. The new library serves not only our students, but all students and Kenyan residents thirsting for knowledge.  Father Nestorio hopes to install computer stations and purchase updated textbooks as funds become available. In addition, we are currently completing a new building at Langata Seminary, to provide a kitchen and dining hall, classrooms and more to relieve current overcrowding.
Seminarians complete ten years of education and formation before being ordained as an Apostle of Jesus Missionary Priest.

Pope John Paul II Memorial Hall - after receiving a generous donation of land in Nairobi, Kenya, plans are underway for the hall, which will provide youth meeting space, educational programs, social services and retreats.
