Founders Day,
My dear Confreres members of the Religious Missionary Institute of the Apostles of Jesus, Dear our Sister and Brothers Congregations in the Mazzoldi-Marengoni Family, Fraternal greetings in the Lord.
I take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Founders’ Day (July 27, 2008). I invite you my brothers and sisters wherever you are to spend this day reflecting on the teachings of our Co-Founders, praying for them that the Good Lord may grant them the eternal reward that awaits his friends who do His will.
On the weekend of Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22, 2008 Fr. Charles Honde, AJ and I traveled through Milan and Trent. We had wished to spend sometime at the birthplace of our beloved Founder and Co-Founder Very Reverend Father John Marengoni but his family members were on vacation. All the same while at Milan Train Station we said a prayer in memory of our beloved Founder and Co-Founder, imagining how on several occasions during his active life he experienced the hustles of changing trains on his missionary journeys. We spent a night (Saturday June 21) at Verona, Motherhouse of Comboni Missionary, the second home of our Founders. We said a prayer at the tomb of Saint Bishop Comboni before leaving for Nago.
On Sunday June 22 we celebrated Mass at Nago, the birthplace of our Founder and Co-Founder Bishop Sisto Mazzoldi. After Mass we spent a good time with the members of Bishop Mazzodi Family. They send their greetings and promise their prayers to you all.
My dear brothers and sisters in the extended Mazzoldi-Marengoni Family, let us emulate our Co-Founders by remaining faithful till the end to our vowed life and the various pastoral commitments the Lord has called us to participate in. I pray that this first Founders’ Day and other celebrations and occasions that will follow in future be the occasions for strengthening our unity and the spirit of cooperation. You are all invited for the celebration of the Apostles’ 40th Anniversary, Nairobi (August 22, 2008).
Bishop Sisto Mazzoldi and Father Marengoni, please intercede for your sons and daughters.
Sincerely,
News from Kenya!
We have a new Superior General of the Apostles of Jesus!
As many of you know, the Regional Delegates of Apostles of Jesus recently met to elect the Superior General of the Order.
The position of Superior General is held for six years and our previous Superior General, Very Rev. Augustine Njuu had made great progress during the past term. We are grateful for the twenty-one ministries of the Apostles of Jesus and the hard work put forth by all of the missionaries.
On February 14th, 2008, the election of the new Superior General took place, followed by the election of the fifth council. The results were as follows:
On February 19th, 2008, Delegates, Priests, Religious Sisters and Brothers from various institutes, Seminarians and lay faithful, joined in the Holy Mass of Thanksgiving to God at the Apostles of Jesus Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Langata, presided over by Rt. Rev. David Kamau, Auxiliary Bishop of Nairobi Archdiocese, delegated by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, Archbishop of Nairobi Archdiocese. Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Obbo, A.J., Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese in Uganda, who was also a delegate, was among the celebrants. Mass was followed by a ceremony and reception.
We would like to express our sincere thanks for your prayers, encouragement and wishes. God bless!
